Carnation

 

Carnations are available in two main forms. Sims, which is one large flower per stem and Spray carnations, which have multiple buds per stem. Carnations have always remained as a popular traditional flower. Carnations can be available in a wide variety of colours ranging from whites to dark purples.

 

Carnations should be kept cool where possible. Stems should have dark green leaves, strong stems, petals should be free of blemishes. Carnation leaves are narrow and stalkless, their colour generally varies from green to grayish-blue. They boast a good vase life, with quality carnations lasting 2-3 weeks.
